Our house guests

The Watoto African Children's Choir sang at our church Sunday night. They are from a ministry in Uganda. "The mission of Watoto is to raise the next generation of Ugandan leaders by placing parentless children in families where the necessary love, care, spiritual discipleship and physical needs are provided. Our goal is to equip these precious children with the essential moral values and life skills that will enable them to make a significant and lasting impact." The choir travels the US and other countries to raise funds. It was an amazing concert. Then we hosted 2 boys and a young man in our home for Sunday and Monday nights. Monday afternoon we took them up to Sandia Crest where you can view the whole city. Zachary only got to meet them for a little while Sunday night. He left for church youth camp Monday morning before they were up. But it was a great experience for the rest of us to get to know them. Fredrick was the young man. His full-time job is to help train the choir, then he does sound and power-point while on tour. Francis is 12 and he loved playing Gameboy. I think we let him play too much. They really try limit how much media and such they are exposed too. He also liked playing with the remote control truck and car we have. Andrew is 7. He was breaking my heart. He has a new mom at home in the Watoto village. But they have been on tour since January and he was really missing a mother's love. By Monday evening, he was hanging on me! He really enjoyed riding bikes and scooters with the boys. We had a great time with them and it was an amazing experience we won't soon forget! Here's a couple of pics from our outing.

We haven't heard from Zachary, so I guess camp is going well for him. He'll be back Friday afternoon.
