Apparently Jonathan is allergic to cats. He had gotten over a cold a few days before we left and was fine. But the day after we arrived, he started coughing and sneezing again and complaining that his eyes hurt. I thought his cold was back and was starting to think he had pink eye or something. I was imagining a trip to the ER - yikes! Then someone said, "Maybe it's the cats." Hmmm... He hadn't a problem last time we were there and they had a cat then. But they'd gotten another one since then - one that sheds a lot. So I started giving him Benadryl. That helped. I also noticed he got better when we'd been away from the house for a while. That was the biggest clue. I eventually bought and started giving him once a day Zyrtec. And of course he's been fine since we've been home. I've never had a kid allergic to anything, so this is all new to me. I guess we'll have to plan ahead next time we visit and bring drugs. But at least now I finally have a decent excuse for Benjamin who has been begging for a cat for a couple years. Sorry bud, your brother is allergic!

Poor guy. I'm also allergic to cats--not in a deathly kind of way, but they make me sneeze and itch and my eyes water.

Welcome to the wonderful world of allergies! I have major problems, food and environment. All my girls have some allergies also. We should have bought stock in Zyrtec at this point!
