Big (time) change

There is a big change coming for us.

As an air traffic controller, supervisor, and manager Greg has always worked strange hours including nights, and weekends. When we first got married, I had to have him write down his schedule and post in on the fridge because I could never remember when he was working. Every week was the same, but each day of the week was a different shift. And just when I got used to one schedule, he would bid a new one and I'd be confused again! He has never had weekends off. Some years he's had Sundays off, but I don't think he's ever had Saturdays off.

It's been 19 years of this and I'm used to it now.

But that's all about to change.

He has just accepted a new position, still with the FAA. His new job will have "normal" office hours. Monday through Friday, 7-4. He will be home every night. He will have weekends off. We'll be able to have family dinner every night (Does that mean I'll have to cook more often?) He'll be able to be at all the soccer games on Saturdays. We'll be able to go to church together on Sundays (if we want, we've been going to a Saturday night service and we kind of like it!).

All I know is it will be strange for a while to actually have a schedule like the rest of America. I'll let you know if I like it!

Too funny! I bet that will be a big change. My friend's husband is a fireman. About a year ago he changed from traditional firemen hours--2 straight days on, to normal hours. My friend is not a fan. She liked having him off randomly during the week. I know she does like having him home for games.

I think you'll love it!! Tell Greg he needs to cook a few of the nights to ease you in. :)

Good for you! My husband made that transition a couple years ago, and I LOVE having him home on the weekends and for dinner. I think you will love it.

It was great meeting you btw!!! Oh, and I'm a digital scrapbooker too. I love your blog design:)
