How to get a reluctant writer to write...give him a project that interests him.
None of my boys enjoy writing. School writing assignments usually bring whining and sometimes tears.
But look what 10 year old Jonathan has done in the last day and a half.
And he's not done yet. He's never written this much - ever. He's got quite a few spelling and punctuation mistakes, but who cares! He's writing! And the story is pretty good.
This Lego a day blog gave me the idea. I suggested the boys write a story that we would illustrate with photos of legos. They took the idea and ran with it.
Jonathan and Benjamin have been building scenes and working on the story. Zachary helped with the photography yesterday.
I've told them I would make their story into a book. Now I've got to figure out how to do that. I've got some ideas.
Stay tuned!

Wow! That is a fantastic idea!
Great idea...perhaps I need to sell my boys on that one!
Terrific idea! My 11yos doesn't like to write but adores Legos. I should have him give this shot! Thanks for the inspiration. :)
Creative mama--you should homeschool! ;)
Tell Zachary I enjoyed his photography.
