Balloons!

We look forward to the first week of October all year. We've lived here 19 years and we never get tired of going to the International Balloon Fiesta.

Here's what we saw this morning.

Balloons inflating.

A bee.

Looking up!

Balloons filling the sky.

Waiting in the cold. Even with the hats, coats, and gloves we were still cold.

After many balloons took off, they cleared the field and layed out targets. Then balloons flew in from outside the park and tried to get close enough to throw a marker on the targets. Not many got close enough, but a few did.

Notice the pilot leaning out, tossing his marker.

My favorite shot of the morning.

We are going to try to go again Thursday or Friday afternoon when all the special shape balloons inflate and stay on the field. The special shapes are our favorites. Hopefully I'll have pictures of those later in the week.

This is one of the things we miss most about Abq!
Oh, and the heat index was 108 today. So there's that too.
