The new normal

We are slowly getting used to our new normal. When we started this journey, I never really imagined we would get a baby. Getting used to diapers and bottles again has been a shock to my system. But I have having so much fun taking care of girls! I even fixed pigtails this morning!

The girls are doing well. They both slept all night last night, which was a blessing as yesterday the baby (M) woke up at 5 am, which woke up J (5 yrs). I did get M back to sleep for a while, but J never did go back to sleep. She was one tired little girl last night.

Right now we are watching Dora. I love Dora!

We have managed to get school work done, though we are taking today off.

The boys have been amazing! Zach loves holding M. Jon does too, but M is not very comfortable with him. Ben and Jon have been great with J. They spent a couple hours yesterday afternoon playing barbies with her!

Our schedule is going to be crazy. We'll have two if not three home visits with social workers next week. Each of the girls has a different social worker and we have our placement worker.

I have to admit, the first day I was VERY overwhelmed, thinking how are we going to do this and what have we gotten ourselves into. No matter how much training you have or how many classes you attend, there is just no way to really be prepared for all that comes with foster care. But these girls are precious and they need a family to care for them. God has called us and we are are going to take one day at a time and love them with Christ's love.

And in other news...Greg is taking Zach car shopping this afternoon!

I had to read this twice because it was just such a wonderful thing to hear! And I cried a little more the second time. So happy for you all!

Girls. Beautiful, blessed little girls to get you for a mama and Greg for a dad. I can only imagine how overwhelming it has to be, but I have no doubt you'll be amazing!

I think about you all the time and wonder how things are going.
