She recently had to move from her home in southern California to an assisted living apartment near my aunt in Kansas-a huge change for her. (I think she's cold!) So she's passing on some of her things.
A couple weeks ago, we got some of her turtle collection.
And here's what came today.
What do you think Doelyn?
The quilt top of the first one was made by my grandma's mother in the 1930's. It was all done by hand. My grandma added the border and had a quilting group in Oregon finish it in the late 1950's or early 60's. It is all hand quilted.
The pink one is my favorite because it's pink! And because of this square.
This one was made in 1928 for my grandma by her grandmother. My grandma would have been 6 years old at the time.
They both have some stains and need to be cleaned. Anyone have any advice?
I also received some old photos. Most of them I have seen before or already have copies of. But I also got some slides of when I was a baby that I have never seen before. I'm anxious to have Greg scan those so I can get a better look.
Here's some of my favorites of the photos.
That stroller cracks me up. I've never seen anything like it.
My kindergarten picture.
This one is my favorite. I'm guessing we were 3 or 4. Aren't we cute!

Wow!! I love seeing all the old pictures!! You were such a cutie. And my mom would LOVE all the turtles, she collects them too!!
I LOVE those quilts! I have some that my grandmothers made as well. True treasures. I didn't realize you are a twin. You were so adorable!
Great pics Robin! Love the quilts. I suggest you have them dry cleaned, at least to get those stains out! What a wonderful heritage and to be able to touch those quits and to know who touched them in the past is very special. Love in every stitch, for sure! Love the pictures of you and your sister too! One word...PRECIOUS!! :)
