Last week I took a quick little trip to Houston to see Steven Curtis Chapman and family in concert. Oh and I saw my sister and parents too!
This is a terrible picture of my sister and me before the concert.
The concert was amazing. I love this family and their story of coming through unbelievable tragedy. (Their 5 year old daughter was hit and killed by a vehicle driven by their 17 year old son.) Their sons have a band called Caleb. They are really good. Of course Steven played all his hits and his wife Mary Beth spoke. I also read Mary Beth's book Choosing to See on my trip. So good!
The next day I spent the morning with Renee and her youngest daughter Lauren and her mother-in-law Mary who was in town for a meeting.
Then Renee and I had a 2 1/2 lunch with my friend Kristen (from WeAreThatFamily). I loved hearing all about what God is doing in their new ministry The Mercy House. Lives of some very vulnerable girls in Kenya are going to be changed because of what they are doing. I gave her some knitted cupcake hats to sell in her Etsy shop. All the proceeds will go to the Mercy House.
After lunch we went to see Dad. It was so hard. I do not like seeing him like this. And he can no longer speak, so communicating is nearly impossible. I showed him some videos of the boys playing their instruments on my iphone. He liked that.
My mom came over for dinner that night. (Didn't get a pic.)
Then home the next day. We had it all worked out - Greg would have time to pick me up after Jonathan's games and before Benjamin's. Then I got delayed. No way he could get me and still get them to the soccer field. What to do? Call a friend is what I did. Thank you Donna for picking me up!

I loved our 2.5 hour lunch! It was so good to catch up. I just put the hats in the store tonight and sold one before I even listed it.
