This has been a very nostalgic week for me. Monday night (our anniversary) we went with some friends to a Drum Corp show. Drum Corps are amazing marching bands with just horns and percussion. Check out my friend's blog post here to see pics and video. (I'm letting her do the work for me!) Now the reason this was nostalgic for me is I was in marching band in high school. And I loved every minute of it. I would be in a marching band again if they had one for old band nerds like me!
Then last night I took Zachary to the first meeting with his new high school band director. Yes, my first born is following in my foot steps-I'm so proud! He starts marching band camp next week. We both love the director. He's young (first job out of college for him) and full of energy and excitement - and he is a saxophone player (private lessons with the director - yahoo!). Zachary is going to a new high school and this is the first year they will have band, so it will be interesting to see how it all goes. I'll plan on being as involved as they will let me! Go Hawks!

- I have been married since 1990 to a wonderful man. We have one (grown?) son on his own, one son in 8th grade who loves to beat his drums, one son in 5th grade who makes beautiful music on the piano, and a beautiful 2 yr old who loves everything pink, purple, and girly whom we adopted from foster care. After 22 years in New Mexico we have recently moved across the country. I love Jesus with all my heart. I love my men. I love my girl. I love to read. I love to knit. I love digital scrapbooking. I love chocolate. That about sums it up!

Evan is a band geek too but there is a huge after school commitment so he was only in as a freshman! He misses it though! Loved band too and I know Zachary will love it! Go band geeks! (I think there is a group on facebook for band geeks)
