A birthday and Thanksgiving

We had a very nice Thanksgiving day. We started off giving a little extra attention to the 4-footed member of our family. It was Amy's birthday - she's 8. She got a couple new toys and a new collar (which you can't see because of all her fur!) She's a pain, but we love her.

Greg had to work in the afternoon, but we had friends over for an early lunch.

Then I watched the Dallas Cowboys game. They won! Later that evening we joined a bunch of friends for pie and games.

It was a good day. I am thankful for my family and friends!

What to do when...

What to do when they shut down the swimming pool because someone threw up in it...

Climbing a mountain

So, after 18 years I climbed Sandia Peak once again. Our new friends Keith and Tracie who moved here last November wanted to climb it. And since Greg is the resident expert he agreed to take them. Tracie didn't want to be the only girl, so I went too. Zachary also joined us - it was his 3rd trip up the mountain. We parked our car at the base of the Sandia Peak Tram, hiked 2.6 miles to the La Luz trail, then 7 miles to the top. It's wasn't too hard. Just when you are starting to think you can't go any farther you've done the hardest part and there's only 1 mile to go. We rode the tram down and just like 18 years ago I was sick to my stomach for about an hour and a half. I guess it's from the rapid altitude change. Other than a few blisters on my feet I don't feel too bad today. I'm not ready to do it again anytime soon though!

One mile to go!

We made it!

Joy Lynn

My friend's baby girl (the preemie) passed away last night. They are not sure why she died. Her vitals were strong through the afternoon and evening and then she suddenly started having problems. They worked on her for a while, but there was nothing they could do.

I was at women's conference with speaker Lisa Whelchel when I got the message. My friend Denise and I went straight to the hospital. Tiffany was holding her sweet baby. It was heartbreaking. Please pray for Danny and Tiffany and grandparents Charlie and Cheri.

Joy Lynn

Here's a new picture of my friend Tiffany and her preemie. This one gives you a perspective of just how tiny she is.

28 week baby

I have a friend (Tiffany, her husband was our youth pastor at church) whose baby was born yesterday at 28 weeks. Baby Joy weighs 1 lb 7oz and is doing well. She is on a ventilator but is taking some breaths on her own. She is having no other complications at the moment. She will be in the hospital until sometime in November. Tiffany is recovering from a c-section but is doing well. I got to see the baby today. She is tiny - her leg is as big around as my thumb. Here's a pic, but you just can't imagine how small she is, but absolutely perfect! She is a miracle! I knit these hats and tube socks for her. I made the smaller hat first from a pattern, but thought it was too small. The second one is just a little bigger, but it should fit. I hope I can get a picture of her wearing them.
